Frequently asked questions
What is GBpass?
GBpass is a zero-knowledge password manager. It stores your passwords, passkeys, credit cards, notes, and files in a vault encrypted end to end with AES-256-GCM. Only you can decrypt it. GBpass is available for Android today, with a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Brave.
Is this app safe to store my passwords?
Yes. GBpass encrypts everything with AES-256-GCM, end to end, using keys derived from your Master Password and Secret Key with Argon2 and PBKDF2. Your data is encrypted locally on your device before it syncs, so only you can decrypt it. We can't read your vault, and neither can anyone else. The Security Guide explains the full model.
Can I access my passwords from another device?
Yes. Your vault syncs to every device where you sign in with the same account: Android phones and tablets, and the browser extension on your computer (Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Brave). There is no limit on the number of devices.
Is there a browser extension for my computer?
Yes. The GBpass browser extension puts your vault and autofill in Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Brave. Chrome, Firefox and Edge install it from their own stores. Brave has no store of its own, so it installs the Chrome version from the Chrome Web Store, where the button reads Add to Brave. Sign in with the account you use on your phone and your items are there, still encrypted end to end. The store links and the Brave steps are on the Downloads page.
What if I forget my master password?
The master password is the only key to unlock your data. For security reasons, we do not store your master password and cannot recover it for you. Please keep it somewhere safe. Learn about your Secret Key and Master Password →
Is this app free?
Yes. The Free plan is free forever and needs no credit card. Every feature is in it, including sync, autofill and sharing; the only ceiling is 250 MB of file storage. Personal raises that to 20 GB and starts with a 30-day trial. See our Pricing page for details.
What happens if I change my phone or reset my device?
As long as you log back in with the same account and cloud sync is enabled, all your data will be restored from the cloud. Make sure sync is complete before switching devices. This works on every plan, including Free.
I am paying for Personal, but the app shows the Free plan. What now?
This usually happens after reinstalling the app or moving to a new phone, when the purchase loses its link to your account. Open Settings, tap Plan, then tap Restore purchases at the bottom of the screen. You are not charged again. Our Restore a purchase guide explains what each result means, including a subscription that is linked to a different account.
Can this app store information other than passwords?
Yes. Besides passwords, you can also store personal notes, credit card details, bank account information, identity data, and other important files, all securely encrypted.
Can this app generate strong passwords automatically?
Yes. GBpass includes a password generator that creates random, strong passwords. You can choose the length and character types to match any site's requirements.
Can I share my password with others safely?
Yes. You can securely share specific items with other GBpass users. Shared data is end-to-end encrypted, so recipients cannot view the raw content outside of the app.
How many passwords can I save?
There is no cap on the number of passwords or passkeys. Storage is based on space used, and entries take up very little of it. The Free plan includes 250 MB, which is plenty for a large and growing collection. It is file attachments that fill a plan up, so if you keep scans, photos, or video in your vault, the Personal plan raises you to 20 GB. Individual files can be up to 100 MB.
Do I need an internet connection to access my passwords?
Not always. You can access previously synced passwords offline. However, an internet connection is required for automatic backup and syncing data across devices.
Does this app support fingerprint or Face ID login?
Yes. GBpass supports fingerprint and Face ID login on compatible devices. You can enable biometric authentication in your security settings.
How long does my login session stay active?
For security, your session will automatically lock after 5 minutes of inactivity. You can adjust the session timeout duration in your settings.
Can I recover accidentally deleted items?
Yes. Deleted items go to the trash bin and remain there for 30 days before being permanently removed. You can restore them at any time during that window.
How do I export my data if I want to move to another app?
You can export your data at any time through your account settings. Data can be exported in encrypted or CSV format, depending on your preference.
Will I lose my data if I uninstall the app?
No. As long as you use the same account and have cloud backup enabled, you can reinstall the app and log back in without losing any data.
How do I change my master password?
Go to Settings › Change Master Password. You will need to enter your current master password to confirm the change.
Can I save passwords for mobile apps too?
Yes. GBpass supports autofill for mobile apps including social media, banking, and more. Simply enable the autofill permission in your device's accessibility settings.
How do I use Autofill to automatically fill in passwords?
The Autofill feature automatically fills in your username and password in apps or websites. Enable it by going to your device's Settings › Accessibility › Autofill Service and selecting GBpass.
Will my data remain safe if I do not update the app?
Your existing data stays secure. However, we strongly recommend keeping the app updated, as updates often include important security patches and new features.
Can the app be used without creating an account?
No, and that is deliberate. GBpass previously offered a guest mode that kept your data on a single device behind one local key. We removed it so that nobody is left on a weaker model. An account gives you the full zero-knowledge protection described above, plus encrypted backup and sync across your devices. Creating one is free and takes a minute; see Create your account.
What happens if I delete my account?
If you delete your account, all your data will be permanently removed from our servers after a security verification process. This action cannot be undone.
How is my data and privacy handled?
Everything is encrypted on your device before it is stored, so our servers only ever hold blobs we have no key to. We do not sell your data, and there is nothing readable for us to sell. See the complete list of what we can and can't see →
What happens if GBpass servers are hacked?
They would carry away ciphertext. The keys that decrypt it are derived on your device and are never sent to us, so a breach of our servers is not a breach of your vault. Read how zero-knowledge encryption works →
Does GBpass show ads or track me?
No. GBpass is funded by subscriptions, so there is no advertising in the app and nothing about you to profile. This website carries no third-party analytics or tracking scripts either. See our Privacy Policy for the details.
How do I contact customer support?
You can email [email protected] or use the contact form. We aim to respond within 24 hours.
Account recovery
Forgot your Master Password?
We cannot recover your Master Password
Your master password is never stored on our servers, and it is the only thing that can decrypt your vault.
Because we never have access to your master password, we cannot reset or recover it for you. If you forget your master password, your encrypted data cannot be decrypted.
